And earlier this year, the free spirited, twenty-year-old Brittany York walked away with the Miss North Carolina USA 2011 crown. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then THIS video should be worth one miiiiiiillion dollars -- you'll get the Austin Powers reference soon, trust me 🙂

"A year ago, a beautiful and vivacious young lady from Laredo set her goals on something she had been considering for a long time. It was a lofty mission -- one that thousands of girls just like her aspire to -- and now she felt she had the attributes to make it happen. Little did she realize that all her hopes, aspirations and dreams were about to be fulfilled. After thousands, then hundreds, then fifteen, then five deserving young ladies were whittled down to one, there stood Chelsea Morgensen, the new Miss Texas Teen USA. Mission Accomplished."
One more mission stands before Chelsea this Wednesday evening, January 5th. After winning the People's Choice, Most Photogenic Award at Miss Teen USA 2010, Chelsea will grace the Red Carpet among celebrities at the 2011 People's Choice Awards! Be sure to catch this Texas beauty on Wednesday, January 5th at 9pm EST on CBS.

Just like our newest guest, I too can remember the Miss USA 2005 pageant like it was yesterday...
Michael Phelps was a judge (fresh from his breakout Olympic performance just the summer before), Shandi Finnessy's Final Walk in her gown with the plunging neckline (the day I developed my secret crush on Shandi...shhh!), and a 21 year old beauty from North Carolina, named Chelsea Cooley, capturing the coveted title of Miss USA 2005!
Chelsea is now the current President of StandOut Productions, a comprehensive pageant coaching and training program that produces leadership retreats, seminars, model searches, and individual consultations. Along with her business partner and celebrity fitness trainer, Dr. A.T. Dunn (CEO of StandOut), StandOut Productions has compiled a long list of state and national titleholders at both the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants.

In Lauren's own words:
"I have loved nature and the great outdoors all my life. I was never a typical "girly-girl", and my Mom actually thought it was a JOKE when I gave her my application for Miss Vermont USA 2010 with her Mother's Day present. She had always dressed me up adorably as a little girl... all ribbons, bows, sparkles, and pink. As soon as I could, I traded in the cute little outfits for smelly horse farm clothes and hiking boots. When she realized that I was serious about entering the pageant, she was ecstatic. But we had a lot of work to do."
And work is exactly what she did! Introducing the Yoga loving, champion equestrian and future super-nurse -- the current Miss Vermont USA 2011...Lauren Carter 🙂
