VIDEO: Miss Texas USA 2010 at the Gun Range

When I was a kid I loved playing with guns, the toy version of course, until I got older and could buy a real one.  Even now when I go to the gun range I still get a rush of adrenaline right before I shoot (I have a Glock 27, Taurus Judge, and a Mossberg Shotty).  It's like the feeling of anticipation you get when you have a friend or family member in the Top 5 in a pageant and they are about to announce the final results...Kinda.

This past weekend I had a dose of BOTH when I attended the Miss Texas Teen USA pageant and also went to the shooting range with Miss Texas USA 2010, Kelsey Moore.  It was Kelsey's first time ever shooting a gun...EVER...and well I interviewed her at the same time in true "thePageantGuy.com" fashion. 😛

Special thanks to the Memorial Shooting Center in Houston, TX and Jack Cruz of 360 Tactical Training for providing Kelsey an AWESOME private course on handgun safety, self-defense, and tactical shooting.  This is one pageant interview you don't want to miss!

P.S.  And guys...please DO NOT try this at home (obviously) or on your own.  We were under tight supervision from highly trained firearm instructors in a controlled environment.

VIDEO: Morgan Woolard Exclusive Interview

Morgan Woolard, Miss Oklahoma USA 2010, is quite possibly the most recognizable 1st runner up in recent pageant history, and I was lucky enough to chat with her during the Miss Oklahoma USA 2011 pageant this past weekend.  A true definition of class and elegance, she is definitely one of a kind with a great message.  I had such a great conversation with Morgan that I included a Part 2 to her interview, so be sure to watch both!  OK, Enough reading...watch her interview below!  : )

VIDEO: Thanksgiving in Texas

Thanksgiving for me means lunch/dinner with Henderson's and the Dallas Cowboys football game followed by a weekend at the Miss Texas Teen USA 2011 pageant in Houston, TX.  120 Texas Teens will be competing for the crown currently held by Miss Texas Teen USA 2010, Chelsea Morgensen.

I was lucky enough to interview a Texas beauty and former Miss Texas Teen USA 2009, Kelli Harral.  Texas has a lot to be thankful for over the many years in pageantry and Kelli is a perfect reason why.  Thanks Kelli for the interview and Happy Thanksgiving to all.  Enjoy!  -Will the Pageant Guy

VIDEO: USA Pageants During Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving weekend historically, is a busy weekend for some major pageant systems across the country.  Every year, National American Miss and American Coed Pageants have their national  pageants at the Disney resorts in California and Florida respectively, and this year eight states  in the USA system will  also be hosting their pageants on the same weekend.  Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania will be hosting both Miss and Teen pageants and Texas will be hosting their Teen pageant only.

I was lucky enough to get a quick interview with a former Teen titleholder from one of these states and I will be featuring more interviews in the next following days from a few more.  So check out what Miss Maine Teen USA 2009, Jordan Shiers has been up to in her interview below and STAY TUNED for MORE exclusive interviews over the holiday weekend!  -Will the Pageant Guy

VIDEO: Teen USA Titleholders Competing for Miss Titles

This weekend will feature successful Teen titleholders from Miss Teen USA's past, competing as Miss contestants in California and Georgia.  Katherine "Katie" Blair, Miss Teen USA 2006 and Alyssa Campanella, Miss New Jersey Teen USA 2007  (1st RU to Miss Teen USA 2007) both will be competing for Miss California USA 2011.  Brittany Sharp, Miss Georgia Teen USA 2006  and 4th RU to Katherine at Miss Teen USA 2006, will also looking to capture the crown at Miss Georgia USA 2011!

VIDEO: Pageant Paperdolls. Creepy or Cool?

The first time I came across Pageant Paperdolls I was pretty amazed at the surgeon-like precision and detail of these replicas.  If you are a fan of pageantry then you respect a contestant, hairstylist, photographer, etc. paying great attention to detail and these 4 inch Paperdolls were no exception.

Afterwards, new Pageant Paperdolls would regularly pop up on my Facebook news feed.  I admired the work from a distance -- most times browsing through them quickly -- until one day something familiar caught my eye.  Two current Texas USA titleholders were "paperdolled" with one of my events in the background.

I'm sure both Kelsey and Chelsea were flattered that someone used them as inspiration to create art, and it was awesome that the artist actually recreated all of my sponsor logos on the banner behind them!

So I reached out to the artist, Paperdoll Pete, to express my admiration for his art and for including my banner in one of his pieces.  He talked about his love for pageants and his gratefulness to use his talents to give something back to the pageant world.  But, he admitted that some pageant fans view his work as creepy.   Creepy or not,  I thought Paperdoll Pete's work was pretty cool and he seemed like a good dude. From then on I continued followed Pete's work on Facebook and came up with an idea for to feature his Paperdolls in video.

With permission granted from Pete, I threw together a few video montages recreating "Great Moments in Pageant History" -- Paperdoll style.  Take a look below!
