PHOTOS: Miss Texas Teen USA 2013 – Behind the Scenes

Every year, I've been fortunate and thankful to have the opportunity to attend the Miss Texas Teen USA pageant, held this past weekend at the Hilton Post Oak in Houston, TX.

Last month, I shared with you LIVE behind-the-scenes photos and updates over Twitter from Miss Texas USA 2013...and well it's only fitting that I do the same for the Miss Texas Teen USA 2013 pageant.

Even if you watched the live stream OR sat in the audience watching the pageant, these photos will give you an added glimpse of what happens inside closed rehearsals and backstage...moments before you witness the final product on stage.

And if you were sitting in the very last row in the audience, like my friends Hannah and Rachel, hopefully my Twitter feed kept you somewhat entertained 😛

PHOTOS: Miss Texas USA 2013 – Behind the Scenes

Each year, I have the amazing opportunity to attend the Miss Texas USA pageant which was held last month at the Hilton Americas in Downtown Houston, TX.

So I wanted to share with everyone what was happening at the pageant.....

Sure, anyone could've watched the live stream of the pageant OR sat in the audience and post pageant updates on Twitter, but I wanted to show everyone an inside look of what's happening, behind-the-scenes, LIVE through photos via Twitter.

I did this last year -- at the Miss Nevada USA 2012 pageant -- and it was such a blast so I had to so it again!

VIDEO: Miss Texas USA 2012 Pageant

This weekend in Houston, TX will witness 123 contestants from across the Lone Star state compete for the title of Miss Texas USA 2012.  Ana Rodriguez, 3rd runner up at Miss USA 2011, will be crowning the next young lady to represent the TEXAS in the Miss USA 2012 pageant next summer.

Below are two interviews from Top 15 finalists at last years Miss Texas USA pageant, the current Miss Dallas USA 2011 - Shannon McAnally and Miss Fort Worth USA 2011 - Christina Entsminger.

VIDEO: Chelsea Morgensen – Miss Texas Teen USA 2010

Excerpt taken from J.J. Smith's article for Miss Texas Teen USA:

"A year ago, a beautiful and vivacious young lady from Laredo set her goals on something she had been considering for a long time.  It was a lofty mission -- one that thousands of girls just like her aspire to -- and now she felt she had the attributes to make it happen.  Little did she realize that all her hopes, aspirations and dreams were about to be fulfilled.  After thousands, then hundreds, then fifteen, then five deserving young ladies were whittled down to one, there stood Chelsea Morgensen, the new Miss Texas Teen USA.  Mission Accomplished."

One more mission stands before Chelsea this Wednesday evening, January 5th.  After winning the People's Choice, Most Photogenic Award at Miss Teen USA 2010, Chelsea will grace the Red Carpet among celebrities at the 2011 People's Choice Awards!  Be sure to catch this Texas beauty on Wednesday, January 5th at 9pm EST on CBS.

VIDEO: Miss Texas USA 2010 at the Gun Range

When I was a kid I loved playing with guns, the toy version of course, until I got older and could buy a real one.  Even now when I go to the gun range I still get a rush of adrenaline right before I shoot (I have a Glock 27, Taurus Judge, and a Mossberg Shotty).  It's like the feeling of anticipation you get when you have a friend or family member in the Top 5 in a pageant and they are about to announce the final results...Kinda.

This past weekend I had a dose of BOTH when I attended the Miss Texas Teen USA pageant and also went to the shooting range with Miss Texas USA 2010, Kelsey Moore.  It was Kelsey's first time ever shooting a gun...EVER...and well I interviewed her at the same time in true "thePageantGuy.com" fashion. 😛

Special thanks to the Memorial Shooting Center in Houston, TX and Jack Cruz of 360 Tactical Training for providing Kelsey an AWESOME private course on handgun safety, self-defense, and tactical shooting.  This is one pageant interview you don't want to miss!

P.S.  And guys...please DO NOT try this at home (obviously) or on your own.  We were under tight supervision from highly trained firearm instructors in a controlled environment.

VIDEO: Thanksgiving in Texas

Thanksgiving for me means lunch/dinner with Henderson's and the Dallas Cowboys football game followed by a weekend at the Miss Texas Teen USA 2011 pageant in Houston, TX.  120 Texas Teens will be competing for the crown currently held by Miss Texas Teen USA 2010, Chelsea Morgensen.

I was lucky enough to interview a Texas beauty and former Miss Texas Teen USA 2009, Kelli Harral.  Texas has a lot to be thankful for over the many years in pageantry and Kelli is a perfect reason why.  Thanks Kelli for the interview and Happy Thanksgiving to all.  Enjoy!  -Will the Pageant Guy
