This past weekend I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Miss Nevada USA 2013 pageant in Las Vegas...and join the contestants, titleholders, sponsors, and staff as they prepared for the last Miss USA state preliminary pageant for 2013.
Again, I was treated to an "all-access backstage pass" to cover the pageant and show everyone what many don't get to see at a pageant.
It was at this very same pageant last year when it all began...and since then I've been able to keep everyone plugged in with what's going on behind-the-scenes with live photos and updates over Twitter at other pageants across the country!
But in case you missed it...
...I've included a gallery below with the photos and captions of events happening LIVE during the entire weekend including the rehearsals, contestants' night out, preliminaries, finals and of course crowning the the new Miss Nevada USA 2013 - Chelsea Caswell and Miss Nevada Teen USA 2013 - Amanda Jenkins.
Thanks again to Shanna Moakler for yet another amazing pageant weekend in Las Vegas, and to the wonderful contestants, titleholders, staff, and friends that made this visit an exciting and memorable experience!
And keep following me on Twitter at @thePageantGuy so you can join us behind-the-scenes at the next pageant!
P.S. It may take a moment to load the photo gallery below. Click here if you are having difficulty viewing the gallery.

Rachel Wyatt in her own words:
"Being able to put the crown on these little girls' heads is really special because they just look at it and see a crown and they think, 'Wow, you're a princess!' but the meaning behind it and the four points mean so much more than that. For me to be able to tell them about that and let them try it on and take pictures, its really neat, fun, and special for them...and and it means a lot too!"
Last month, Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2013 - Rachel Wyatt visited Dallas and I was invited to document a typical day in her life as MAOTeen.
We began as she arrived at the airport in Dallas and dinner afterwards. Early the next morning, Rachel attended a private session with Mental Management Systems. During her short time in Dallas, Rachel was able to make a few appearances to speak to children and give back to the community. She spoke to the children of Heart House Dallas, spent time with them and handed out books to the group. Following the Heart House, Rachel helped with the Toys for Tots toy drive. Concluding her long day was a relaxing dinner with friends from Baseball Diamonds and a few laughs 🙂
Come take a glimpse into "A Day in the Life of MAOTeen 2013" video below...

Words written by a friend of Rachel Massie:
"It has been so rewarding watching her start her career and work so hard at accomplishing her goals. Not only is she a stunning young lady, she is a shining diamond inside with a heart of gold. I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off the new year than with the success of my girl!!
Never give up on your dream no matter how hard the path may seem. Life is not always easy but when you put your heart and soul into it, you go far."
First time ever as a contestant. First time ever on a stage...Winner!
Could her second time on a stage and as a contestant result in being the second ever Miss USA from Arizona?
Stay tuned to Rachel's journey to the crown at @RealMissAZUSA

Top 25 Most Annoying Pageant Phrases
[dt_divider style="wide"/]
I've done it...you've done it...we ALL have done it.
We are ALL guilty of spouting off cliche pageant sayings over the course of pageant weekend -- in person, online, over texts -- in hopes of sounding intelligent, informed, and understanding. In an effort to prevent the recycled pageant phrases of yesteryear from haunting us any further, and to spark some ORIGINALITY, let's identify some of these annoying phrases.
NOTE: Although I didn't use any infamous YouTube punchlines in the likes of "maps", "such as", or "the Iraq", I kept to the more common and annoying sayings you're familiar with hearing each pageant season (including personal commentary) beginning with...
These honorable mentions did not make the Top 25 list, but certainly have the potential to be:
USAGE: She's a strong competitor. She could make a splash at Miss USA!
• the Pageant Guy says: I'm still determining if this is a compliment or insult.
USAGE: Girl, those judges are blind. You should've won!
• the Pageant Guy says: Thanks for the inspirational message, friend.
USAGE: Yay! I got 11 of 16 in the Top 16! #PageantExpert #ImTheBest #LookAtMe
• the Pageant Guy says: Good for you. No one really cares Mr. Pageant Expert. #HeresACookie
USAGE: Can't believe who won…I'm still scratching my head on that one!
• the Pageant Guy says: Maybe it's dandruff.
USAGE: Did you see who won? The judges missed the mark with her!
• the Pageant Guy says: Hi, you must be related to the 1st runner-up.
USAGE: I'm still not sure if she is Top 15 material. This girl is on the bubble for me.
• the Pageant Guy says: GUILTY!
[dt_divider style="narrow"/]
USAGE: Did you see her walk onstage, she is soooo over the top!
• the Pageant Guy says: Let me guess...you are soooo not a fan of her.
USAGE: What did you think of my girl Pageant Patty? I've been working so hard with her!
• the Pageant Guy says: CAUTION: This won't be the first time you see inappropriate use of a titleholder as a possessive pronoun in this Top 25 list...see #9 down below
USAGE: There, there...it's OK honey. You don't need a crown to be a winner!
• the Pageant Guy says: Thanks Mom.
USAGE: Inner beauty is much more important to me.
• the Pageant Guy says: Lucky for you, this is the Miss "Inner Beauty" beauty pageant.
USAGE: I agree with the results. The judges definitely got it right!
• the Pageant Guy says: Nice to meet you. You must be the winner's parents.
[dt_divider style="narrow"/]
USAGE: What did i think about her performance? She nailed it!
• the Pageant Guy says: Gosh, your such a bad liar.
USAGE: That's a great question. The biggest challenge our country faces today is...
• the Pageant Guy says: That's a great way to stall <not really>...it was OK the first time but not the 4th time around.
USAGE: Texas missed it with that one!
• the Pageant Guy says: I'm sure the entire state will continue on despite this tragic blunder.
USAGE: Our pageant system is the most relevant one today.
• the Pageant Guy says: Seriously, the next time I hear the word relevant AND pageant in a sentence, I'm going to jump in front of a bus.
USAGE: She did her best. It just wasn't meant to be.
• the Pageant Guy says: I agree! I totally had her pegged for Miss Congeniality from the get go!!
[dt_divider style="narrow"/]
USAGE: If I could play basketball with one person dead or alive, it would be Jesus. Jesus is my hero.
• the Pageant Guy says: Lord help me with this one! OK...before I get hate mail, I'm not knocking anyone who shares their faith...in all honesty I respect it. I just think it's annoying when it's clearly insincere and it's the default response to a tough question. And yes, I would love to ball with Jesus. Carry on.
USAGE: I'm just not feeling her. I don't get all the hype!
• the Pageant Guy says: Wait...I know you...didn't you post the same thing on the message board last night?
USAGE: Coming to you from the state that brings you Logan and Jake Paul…I AM…Pageant Patty!

[dt_divider style="narrow"/]
USAGE: I'm surprised with tonight's results. Different night, different set of judges
• the Pageant Guy says: DUH.
USAGE: She should've won tonight…she was robbed!
• the Pageant Guy says: And she looks like she got mugged too. #SorryNotSorry
USAGE: Don't feel so bad about your placement, the pageant was rigged!
• the Pageant Guy says: So says every 1st RU in the history of pageants!
USAGE: The best pageant advice I've ever received was to just be yourself!
• the Pageant Guy says: She's tried that the past 7 years.
USAGE: Is this real life? OMG...My good friend…Pageant Patty...just won Miss Universe! I die!!
• the Pageant Guy says: Just because she liked your comment last month doesn't automatically make you BFFs

If you ever get bored at a pageant, during intermission, or even after it's concluded here's a FUN GAME to play using a combination of Annoying Phrases:
Using Annoying Phrases: 7, 21, and "On The Bubble" list
• thePageantGuy.com says: Called it! The judges definitely got it right. She could make a splash at Miss USA!
Or you can get really fancy like this...
Using Annoying Phrases: 1, 16, 18, 5, 4, 6, 23, 2, and 7
• thePageantGuy.com says: My good friend Pageant Patty...it just wasn't meant to be. Texas missed it with that one, But you know what they say, "Different night, different set of judges". Ali was the Lifestyle & Fitness winner on Night One of preliminaries. If Ali does win, this would first time since the inception of Miss America's Outstanding Teen in 2005 that both Miss America and Miss America's Outstanding Teen would come from the same state.
We weren't the only ones that have Ali as the front runner for Miss America 2013. In a recent article, Johhny Avello, Director of Race and Sports Operations for the Wynn and Encore has Ali Rogers as the odds on favorite to win at 8-to-1.
In case you are wondering, it's illegal in Las Vegas to bet on the Miss America pageant, but for entertainment purposes here are the remaining contestants and their odds to win:
Miss Oklahoma (Alicia Clifton, 10-1), Miss Wyoming (Lexie Madden, 12-1), Miss Kentucky (Jessica Casebolt, 13-1) and Miss Minnesota (Siri Freeh, 15-1), Miss Missouri (Tippe Emmott, 16-1), Miss Kansas (Sloane Lewis, 18-1) Miss Maryland (Joanna Guy, 20-1), Miss Florida (Laura McKeeman, 22-1) and Miss Arkansas (Sloane Roberts, 24-1).
